Islamic Teaching: Respecting the Dead

Islam teaches us to respect the dead. So, what Libyan people to humiliate Gaddafi dead body by displaying it in the market for 5 days until rot and decay is not right. Even Russian PM angry about this barbarity:

The broadcasting of explicit footage of Muammar Gaddafi’s death was revolting, declared Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

“People within the journalistic community should realize what they are doing and bear moral responsibility for that,” Putin said at a session of the coordinating council of Russia’s Popular Front. “All the world TV channels showed this man, stained with blood, wounded but still alive and being clubbed to death – this is disgusting.”

The prime minister added that none of the world religions would approve of such a thing.

"I am not talking about the political aspect,” Putin stressed. “This is a separate topic – a civil war is underway there. But it’s not good that all this appears on the screens for millions of people, including children, to see."

What the Libyan People do to Gaddafi's dead body is contradicted to Islam.

When a dead body carried away by some men, Our prophet Muhammad immediately stand up to honor the dead.

Some of Muhammad's friend say that the dead is infidel or a Jew.

Muhammad answerd, "Isn't he a human too?"

So, regardless a Muslim or infidel, good or bad, a human dead body should be respected because human are sacred. Human are the noblest creatures from God.

We cannot humiliate a human body by displaying them in public until decay or use them as food for birds just because he is bad or infidel. We should respect them all.

Muhammad also said that if a human is dead, we should burry them immediately despite he/she is good or bad. If he/she is good, then we bring goodness to him/her. But if he/she is bad, then we remove the bad thing from ourselves.

Muhammad also said, "If one die, don't mention anything except the good things. Don't say bad things because it only hurt the livings".

That is the Islamic teaching that we should follow.

Not barbaric things.
