Cara Merubah Email Profile di Wordpress

Saya sempat bingung juga ketika ingin merubah email profile di Wordpress. Begitu diisi dengan email yang baru (misalnya X) begitu diklik “Perbarui Profil” selalu email yang lama (mis:Z) yang muncul.

Saya Google dengan kata kunci: “how to change profile email in wordpress” (tanpa tanda kutip dua) ternyata banyak pertanyaan seperti itu. Satu jawaban yang manjur dari Wordpress sendiri.

Ternyata email baru X itu sudah terdaftar sebagi pengguna wordpress. Oleh karena itu Wordpress menolaknya tanpa pemberitahuan apa pun. Harusnya kan diberitahu “Mas email tsb sudah jadi pengguna wordpress dengan ID Y”.

Saya coba login dgn ID X. Tapi tidak bisa karena ID Wordpress/Passwordnya lupa. Akhirnya saya klik “Lupa Password” untuk mengingatkan password ke email saya. Dari situ saya dapat ID wordpress dan passwordnya kemudian login.

Akhirnya di Perbarui Profil saya rubah email X dengan email yang belum terdaftar di password sehingga email X ini tidak jadi pengguna wordpress.

Setelah itu baru saya login lagi dengan ID Wordpress yang memakai email lama Z. Saya Perbarui Profil dan merubah emailnya jadi X. Berhasil!

Why Can’t I Change my Email Address?

If you attempt to change the e-mail address in your user profile (Users -> Your Profile) and find that it never sticks after saving the changes, the issue is quite simple.

This generally means that the e-mail address you are attempting to use is currently associated with another WordPress.com account. Because the e-mail address is the unique identifier of all users, each address can only be associated with one WordPress.com account. Thus, if you attempt to change it, it will not allow you to do so.

The remedy is just as simple. You must log in to the account currently holding your desired e-mail address and change it to something else. This will allow you to free up the e-mail address that you want to use. Once the address is free to use, log in to your primary account and change the e-mail address in your user profile (what you were originally trying to do). Do not be shocked if it takes a little while for the address to completely free itself up.
